When do we drink wine? A great deal has been published recently about drinking patterns in Europe. While the English youth are binge drinking like never before, the French young are abandoning their national heritage and avoiding wine altogether.

Time was, no self respecting wine would be seen without a cork – unless it was sold on an airline. Now, everyone is leaping on the screw cap bandwagon, and the Marlborough district of New Zealand, for example, sells its great Sauvignon Blanc only in screw cap. What is this closure and what’s in it for us?
